The Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will on Tuesday screen former President Goodluck Jonathan as the party’s sole presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to ThisDay, those expected to screen Jonathan include former Vice President Namadi Sambo, ex-Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Tom Ikimi, among others.

It will be recalled that the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said last week that Jonathan had successfully registered as a member of the party during the fresh digital registration exercise mandated by INEC.

The Seyi Makinde-backed PDP also announced plans to screen 748 House of Representatives aspirants, 198 senatorial aspirants, and 112 governorship aspirants.

The screening committee is also set to assess 2,122 aspirants for state Houses of Assembly. The exercise will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, across various states.

In a statement shared on its official Facebook page on Sunday, the party said the screening committee is also expected to assess one presidential aspirant.

“The screening exercise will take place nationwide on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:00,” the statement said.
