Michael Carrick is reportedly set to be recommended for the permanent managerial position at Manchester United after overseeing a remarkable turnaround in the club’s performances.

The 44-year-old stepped in as interim manager in January following the turbulent departure of Ruben Amorim and has since guided United back into the UEFA Champions League with three games remaining in the season.

Since taking charge on January 13, Carrick has recorded 10 wins in 15 matches across all competitions, suffering only two defeats, while lifting the club from seventh to third place in the Premier League standings.

According to reports by The Athletic, chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox are expected to recommend Carrick’s appointment to co-owner Jim Ratcliffe during an executive meeting this week.

Although the club considered other candidates, Carrick has reportedly remained the leading choice and has received public backing from several players.

Meanwhile, some bookmakers have suspended betting on his potential appointment.

Carrick is expected to address the media on Friday ahead of United’s final home fixture of the season against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
