The Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Igyorov Ward of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State has suspended Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, with immediate effect.
Banger Dooyum, the party’s secretary, claimed that Ayu had been expelled for anti-party behavior following a vote of no confidence.
Dooyum emphasized that PDP’s loss in Ayu’s ward and local government in the governorship race was a result of Ayu and his associates’ anti-party activities.
The national chairman, according to the party’s constitution, was also accused by the committee of failing to pay his annual dues.
The documentation approving his suspension were signed by 12 of the exco’s 17 members. They claimed that the PDP leader did not cast a ballot in the governorship election.
